Sunday-Week In My Life 2012

This post is a part of a week-long series hosted by Melissa at Adventuroo called A Week In My LIfe. For an ENTIRE week, I will share with you the trials and tribulations of being a mom, wife, and everything else! On a side note, at the last-minute, I decided to join this challenge, a week late!

The morning started with a 4:00 AM visit from Ladybug. I try to get her to go to back to sleep by laying with her in her bed (a toddler size bed-just to give you an idea of how ticked off I was). Finally, at 6:00 AM I give up and head back to our bedroom with her following right behind. At 6:30 AM Pumpkin pays us a visit and it’s a party at that point. Husband makes breakfast as I sneak in an additional hour of sleep. We manage to leave the house for church at a decent time, and I am pleased.

20121217-000620.jpgAfter church, we all go to Redi-Clinc (I love this place for non emergencies such as when I end up with an ear infection, strep throat, or upper respiratory infections.) so that Pumpkin and I can get flu shots. Lady bug has a runny nose and Husband already has one, so it’s just us two up for the challenge. Pumpkin is so scared that he falls off the table mid-insertion of the needle. How embarrassing?! Needless to say, we survived.

Our wounds

After the clinic fiasco, the family grabs lunch and the angels settle in for naps while Husband goes to a friend’s house to watch ANOTHER football game. The angels finally wake up and Ladybug seems to be sick with a runny nose and possible onset of a fever. In our household this is a major catastrophe that could last for weeks because when my angels get sick with a cold they just might end up in the hospital for a few days with our luck.  So, Ladybug is now on our Watch List.

I manage to do my hair and Ladybug’s hair which is about a 2.5 hour process, eat dinner, and get the angels in bed on time. I am lucky enough to squeeze in a post.

Anything to keep her occupied

As I get ready for bed, I noticed the return of the weasel in my bed! The husband had no idea he was sleeping next to a weasel. I can’t even imagine what would have happened if I woke up and that thing was in my face.

20121217-000824.jpgFINALLY, the LAST CALL has been made! Until next year….hopefully I’m able to participate on time! (That is my goal for next year, I just wrote it down! That means its official!)

Saturday-Week In My Life 2012

This post is a part of a week-long series hosted by Melissa at Adventuroo called A Week In My LIfe. For an ENTIRE week, I will share with you the trials and tribulations of being a mom, wife, and everything else! On a side note, at the last-minute, I decided to join this challenge, a week late!

It’s early, 6am to be exact, and little ones have no concept of time because Ladybug pays us a visit. Three hours later, I roll out of bed and get ready for CrossFit. Every time I arrive at CrossFit, I question my sanity, and then I remember why I love it so much. After an hour of torture, I run a few errands alone and finally head home. As soon as I walk through the door I realize that I FORGOT DONUT HOLES! The angels know that when Husband or I leave for the gym on Saturday or Sunday we return with donut holes. So, I strap them in the car and drive to the donut shop-pajamas and all.

Jamba Juice is my FAVORITE smoothie spot!

Trust me, I did not take them out of the car in their pajamas…we visited the drive-thru window!

At about 2:00 pm, the house shuts down for a two hour nap. And of course, Ladybug doesn’t want to go to sleep, so I rock her to sleep and don’t leave her room until about 2:40 pm which means I know have 20 minutes to eat lunch and shower. We wake the angels up at about 4:00 pm and prepare to leave for their god brother’s birthday party. We arrive on time to the party (this must be noted), and the angels have a blast at the trampoline party. Luckily for us, they exert a ton of energy which means bedtime will be a breeze.

He is contemplating his next move…it is very serious!

After the party, we visit my parents and they agree to babysit while we get the opportunity to have dinner alone.  This is a luxury that we absolutely DO NOT take for granted.  We are truly grateful to have our parents.

After dinner, we pick up the angels and they have a new toy, a weasel. The angels are fascinated with the weasel and do not want to put it down.

THE WEASEL!!!!

It’s 11:00 and we finally arrive home. At 11:30 the entire house was sound asleep!

Friday-Week In My Life 2012

This post is a part of a week-long series hosted by Melissa at Adventuroo called A Week In My LIfe. For an ENTIRE week, I will share with you the trials and tribulations of being a mom, wife, and everything else! On a side note, at the last-minute, I decided to join this challenge, a week late!

Although it is FRIDAY, I knew it was going to be a HECTIC day. Starting with the LATE wake up; I woke up at 5:07 am and Ladybug was standing on my side of the bed, and I have no idea why. I manage to get both of us dressed (Husband dresses Pumpkin before leaving for work.) and complete a bible study session.

We leave the house and I finally remember the kid-friendly CDs, so we sing all the way to school. Once we arrive at school, Ladybug performs her all too familiar Friday Routine which is a classic 2-year old tantrum (just because) with tears and floor action. On my way to work, I realize that my windshield wipers still haven’t been changed and are worth two cents.

Work proves to be another hectic day:

  • Three meetings
  • I don’t have lunch (I hate leaving to get lunch. It’s such a hassle.)
  • Two unexpected parent meetings
  • One student mediation (with one of the rudest students ever….)

Pumpkin has a doctor’s appointment so, my plan was to leave 20 minutes early than my actual departure time. But, I manage to leave work, pick up the angels, and make it to the appointment with one minute to spare. We were rushing so much I almost missed a moment with Pumpkin. While at the doctor’s appointment, he turns to me out of the blue and says, “I love you. I love spending time with you.” This kid never ceases to amaze me.

We finally arrive home to Dad after a stop for much-needed slushies. The in-laws pay us a visit this evening and we all eat pizza for dinner. The house finally hits the sack at about 10:20 pm and then……at about 11:00 pm Ladybug crosses enemy lines into our bedroom….another sleepless night.

Thursday Week In My Life 2012

This post is a part of a week-long series hosted by Melissa at Adventuroo called A Week In My LIfe. For an ENTIRE week, I will share with you the trials and tribulations of being a mom, wife, and everything else! On a side note, at the last-minute, I decided to join this challenge, a week late!

Today, is a snapshot into our evening routine which is just as hectic as our morning routine. Sometimes (well, a lot of the time) I don’t know how we do it.  It’s amazing how fast the evenings go.

3:20 pm-I leave work about 10 minutes later than I need to leave to make it to CrossFit on time. So, I push it and I mean push it.

4:00 pm-I arrive at CrossFit and get in a good workout which is 150 pushups followed by 3 rounds of 7 manmakers and a 200 meter run. The cutoff time was 20 minutes and I missed completing my last round by about 20 seconds. Talk about FRUSTRATING.

5:00 pm-I arrive at school and pick up the angels. I’m ALWAYS nervous when I go to pick up the angels, because I never know what to expect (Pumpkin getting in trouble, Ladybug falling and bumping her head, or someone has a runny nose).

5:20 pm-We finally arrive home. I let the angels eat a little Halloween candy as Pumpkin completes some “homework” worksheets (these are actually worksheets that I have collected for additional concept practice) and I do a load of laundry. The angels cook me dinner that I absolutely loved.

This is dinner that the angels cooked for me.

6:46 pm-Husband arrives home with dinner (we took the night off from cooking and cleaning) and we feed the angels.

7:30 pm-Bath, books, prayers, and bed for the angels. Ladybug demanded sleeping with part of her costume (and I was in NO mood to fight her.)

20121118-171752.jpg

Pumpkin asleep in 1/2 of her halloween costume.

8:30 pm-Tonight Husband and I have the opportunity to eat dinner alone and chat a little bit.

9:00 pm-I am feeling a little sick (uh, oh) and husband is so concerned, he fixes me a hot bath and demands I bathe and get in the bed. I was able to sneak in a little bible study before hopping in the tub.

9:30 pm-Lights out!

Wednesday Week In My Life 2012

This post is a part of a week-long series hosted by Melissa at Adventuroo called A Week In My LIfe. For an ENTIRE week, I will share with you the trials and tribulations of being a mom, wife, and everything else! On a side note, this challenge actually started two weeks ago and at the last-minute, I decided to join!

Today, I am going to give you a glimpse into a full work/school day in our house….

This morning, I physically CANNOT wake up until 5:00 am which is 30 minutes later than planned. I miss bible study, get ready for work, and end up in a heated argument with Husband (and he absolutely knows I am NOT a morning person). About 5 minutes later than planned, I go get Ladybug bug dressed and discovered she peed in the bed, I wipe her down, get her dressed, and start the washing machine. We are already 15 minutes late, and Ladybug pitches a fit because she doesn’t want to take the wings off her costume (It’s Halloween, so of course it is Costume Day at school.) to put on her jacket because it is cold this morning. Finally, I buckle the angels in the car, get behind the wheel, and Ladybug tells me, “Buckle your seat, Mommy!” I absolutely love the fact that at 2 years old, she reminds ME to buckle my seatbelt.

We finally arrive at school about 30 minutes late, yet I am able to talk to Pumpkin’s teacher and the director about his progress in class. The director also tells me that Ladybug’s allergies are disturbing her during the day and I need to bring in her medicine. Great! I then leave their school and begin my commute to work. Of course 30 minutes later, my mom finally returns my phone call as I am two minutes away from work and my Halloween anthem, “My Mind Is Playing Tricks On Me” is on the radio. I make the decision ignore my mother’s call (she is not going to let me live this down) and continue listening to my anthem, I need some release from this stressful morning.

I finally arrive at work (about 30 minutes late) and hit the ground running:

  • I complete my missed morning bible study
  • I attend two scheduled meetings
  • I attend an unexpected parent conference
  • I put on my “policewoman” hat because a calculator was stolen out of a teacher’s classroom
  • I visit with several students about discipline referrals submitted to my office on their behalf, issue consequences, and contact their parents
  • I answer a few emails
  • I conduct lunch duty
  • I drop my lunch (and I was so looking forward to it) on the floor as I take it out the microwave
  • After I clean my lunch mess and walk out of the lounge, I realize my glass ring breaks on my finger and I have to visit the nurse to have it removed because the sharp edge is digging into my skin and I cut myself
  • I call parents and issue consequences for a student that cursed another student out across the classroom
  • I issue consequences and contact parents for another student that was involved in another verbal altercation
  • I meet with three teachers
  • I spend some time mentoring a new staff member
  • I listen to a “rehabilitation” speech for one of my students with discipline issues
  • I conduct afternoon bus duty
  • I attend a staff meeting

I finally leave work and make it to CrossFit. For one hour, I focus on putting all my energy and effort into meeting or beating my personal goal.  I am slowly beginning to realize that it is truly my release.

20121107-235319.jpg

I leave and pick up the angels from school. When we arrive home, the angels eat a snack as I do a load of laundry. We eat dinner early (Husband prepared it the night before in preparation for Halloween.) and then go trick-or-treating in the neighborhood. The angels are tickled pink because their aunt was able to join us. We return home after about an hour and I let the angels hand out candy to other trick-or-treaters, the candy was gone in about 15 minutes.

The Policeman and The Ladybug

20121107-235153.jpg

Auntie, The Policeman, and The Ladybug

After baths, books, sight words, prayer, and bed, I finally look forward to a little down time. But, I thought too soon. Pumpkin comes around the corner wide-eyed about 10 minutes after “lights out”. I get him back in bed and complete another load of laundry. I finally get the opportunity to indulge in MY time. I take a shower, complete Bible Study, and get some blog and Printed Sugar work done. An hour later, as I am preparing for bed, emergency vehicles pass and the dogs howl which wake and scare Pumpkin and Ladybug. So, the three of us lay down in Pumpkin’s bed. We ALL end up falling asleep. Another hour later (about 12:10 am), I put Ladybug in her bed and sleepwalk to my bed. At some point in the middle of the night, Pumpkin ends up in our bed. I don’t even remember him coming in our room.

After this “normal” day, I am exhausted and look forward to the sleep I don’t receive. And then, I get to do it all over again tomorrow.

Tuesday Week In My Life 2012

This post is a part of  a week long series hosted by Melissa at Adventuroo called A Week In My LIfe. For an ENTIRE week, I will share with you the trials and tribulations of being a mom, wife, and everything else! On a side note, this challenge actually started last week and at the last minute, I decided to join!

Today, I am going to give you a glimpse into our morning routine. I’m warning you, it is pretty intense:

1:41 am-The bestie is sending random text messages. I guess she couldn’t sleep either.

4:30 am-The alarm goes off, but I cannot move this morning. I snooze it for another 15 minutes.

4:45 am-I finally wake up for my morning Bible Study. I just started this piece of my morning routine a couple of months ago and it has truly worked to open my eyes to a lot of life’s lesson’s and teachings.

5:05 am-I make my lunch and get dressed.

5:45 am-Pumpkin comes in our bedroom fully dressed. Husband takes care of Pumpkin in the mornings unless he is running extremely late.

5:47 am-I get Ladybug dressed, do her hair (This is not an enjoyable task for either of us. I completely dread it.), and administer her meds.

6:15 am-We are extremely late, and Ladybug does not want to wear the jacket I have laid out for her. We find the jacket SHE wants to wear, label it, and put on hats.

20121104-223521.jpg6:25 am-We finally get buckled in and leave the house. On the way to school, I realize I changed purses and left every bit of lip product I own in my other purse (I hate when I do this. I mean I really hate it because I hate for my lips to be dry at anytime.). I also remember that I forgot to get the kid-friendly CDs because Ladybug sang a catchy hook of one of the songs on the radio (which happens to be one of my favorites) and it was not the most appropriate song on the radio.

6:35 am-We arrive at school and I check in the angels (There were two cases of strep throat in Ladybug’s room. Great!), drop off party items, place jackets, blankets, and hats in the angels’ cubbies (Pumpkin’s jacket was lost the 2nd week of school and yes it was labeled.), and I pay for school.

6:42 am-I leave for work. I pray and meditate on the way to work every morning. But, in particular every other Monday morning is hard because I cannot stomach the $749.49 that we pay every two weeks for adequate childcare.

7:25 am-I arrive at work EXTREMELY late…and my second job (the one that pays me) begins……

Monday Week In My Life 2012

Today begins a week long series hosted by Melissa at Adventuroo called A Week In My LIfe. For an ENTIRE week, I will share with you the trials and tribulations of being a mom, wife, and everything else! On a side note, this challenge actually started last week and at the last minute (Sunday morning) to be exact, I decided to join!

I always say that when our mornings begin and we walk into the angels’ bedrooms-we never know what we are going to get and this was certainly one of those mornings. At 4:45 am, Ladybug walks in our room and complains that her knees itch. She saw the doctor this weekend and we don’t know if she is having an allergic reaction to one of the medicines she’s taking or if she is overexaggerating and top it all off her cough is still awful. Husband and I have a quick discussion and the decision is made that I would stay home and be “doctor” today. I give Ladybug a breathing treatment, complete my morning bible study, check email, and finally text work (I have to wait until a decent hour and 6:00 am is usually a decent time), and we get back in the bed. I am beyond exhausted and so is Ladybug, so we go back to sleep.

20121031-222720.jpg

A little after 8:00 am Pumpkin walks into my bedroom-which was perfect because I was able to call Ladybug’s doctors (I was informed by the doctor this weekend that one of her ear tubes fell out-it’s only been 7 months!) and leave messages. After I make the phone calls, the angels spend a little time on their own, we get dressed, eat breakfast, and Ladybug gets another breathing treatment. It’s a nice day so, I let the dogs out to roam the backyard. I have another one of my epiphanies in the shower, and hurry to write it down. I absolutely can’t forget!

20121031-222545.jpg

At about noon, we buckle in and go to Auntie’s house to let her dog out. The angels LOVE going to her house and raiding her cabinet!  While we are out, the doctor calls in another prescription (Ladybug is NOW taking four meds.) and we go pick it up. By this time, it is after noon and I pick up lunch for the angels. They eat and Ladybug takes more meds. Finally, at about 1:00 pm the house is quiet and everyone is napping.

     20121031-222832.jpg20121031-222953.jpg       20121031-223052.jpg

I decide to take full advantage of a quiet house and clean, clean, clean, flat iron my hair (An almost 2 hour process) and do laundry.

20121031-223130.jpg

Ladybug finally wakes up at about 4:45 pm and Pumpkin wakes up at 5:15 pm. I pop popcorn and turn on a movie (The angels don’t watch TV during the week, but technically this was not a school day!) to finish my last bit of cleaning. I am still waiting to get an update from Ladybug’s surgeon about the tubes. I check my phone before I walk out the room and just that fast, I miss the doctor’s call. So frustrating, because you can’t call back after hours and I will be forced to call again on Tuesday.

Husband cooks dinner and we all sit for dinner. The angels are not fond of shrimp, so they eat Lunchables and we dined on shrimp pasta. Dinner time is one of my favorite times of day because the angels get really silly and we can see each of their unique personalities full on.

20121031-223151.jpg

After dinner, it is time to prepare the angels for bed and give Ladybug another treatment. 45 minutes after being tucked in bed, Pumpkin wakes up, finds me, and tells me, “Bad people are out to get me.” I really want to say, “Yes they are because you are bad.” But, I digress and tuck him back in bed after thoroughly “checking” his room.

My dining room has become my new “office” and it was an embarrassing mess.  I was determined to clean it up, TONIGHT of course!  And I’m glad I did because I noticed spilled milk that stuck to paper from Ladybug’s cup that is now stuck to my table, and this is quite interesting because food and drinks are not allowed out of the kitchen.

20121031-223216.jpg          20121031-223231.jpg

At about 9:30 pm, I finally get the opportunity to indulge in MY time. I take a shower, complete Bible Study, and get some blog and Printed Sugar work done. At 12:02 am, I can finally say, “UNPLUGGED and GOOD NIGHT!”
